Sunil Joshi for Hyderabad - how sad

Looks like Hyderabad Cricket Association has exhausted all its options or does not want to think any more. HCA has now decided to depend on a 42-year-old retired veteran to take Hyderabad out of Ranji Trophy Plate League and qualify for the Elite League. According to some newspaper reports today, HCA president Arshad Ayub has accepted the idea of letting Hyderabad Ranji coach and former India player, Sunil Joshi to take up the dual role of coach and player. It is also learnt that Arshad Ayubis pushing other EC member of HCA to accept this proposal.

If this proposal is accepted, Sunil Joshi will represent Hyderabad in their first Ranji Trophy Plate League match against Jharkhand in the 2011-12 season. It would be very sad to note that Hyderabad has to fall back on a veteran to rescue itself. Has Hyderabad lost self confidence? Do we not have any players who can put Hyderabad back in Elite group? What would players like D B Ravi Teja and Akshath Reddy do now? Only time will give answers to these questions.

Who ever plays, lets hope our own superstars like Ravi, Akshath and all the young guns fire and take Hyderabad to the Elite League. And I strongly hope Deccan Chronicle opposes such a move by HCA president.

Notable performance of Vihari came in the second match of the tournament where India Colts played Sri Lanka under-19 team. Vihari's first half century in this match ensured India overcame the stiff challenge posed by Sri Lankan bowlers. This win against our neighbors has done a great deal of good to the confidence of Indian players, who subsequently went on to win all their league matches and break into the finals.
