Host ASEC teams lose in quarterfinals

Thanks to some lackluster batting performance, weak bowling and miserable work behind the stumps – host Aurora Seethaiah Engineering College-A team lost to Sreenidhi Institute of Science & Technology by 3 wickets in their Uninor’s Aurora Premier Cricket League tournament played here on Saturday. This loss is difficult to digest for many ASEC team fans who turned up in large numbers at the ground to watch the proceedings and expected them to win and enter the semi-finals of the tournament.

Batting first, ASEC-A batsmen failed to continue their good run and were all out for 78 runs in 12 overs. Other than Koushik (40 runs) and Shashank (17 runs), none of ASEC batsmen were able to put up a decent show. For SNIST, Suman (3 wickets for 12) and Rahul (2 wickets for 9) performed exceptional with the ball.

In response, SNIST helped with some poor bowling and shoddy keeping behind the stumps by ASEC-A achieved the target with 3 balls to spare. Waseem (24 runs) top scored for SNIST. Though Shiva claimed 3 wickets for just 18 runs and led ASEC-A fight back, he didn’t get the necessary support from other bowlers in the team.
